Christmas? Is it too early for that? They ARE selling Christmas lights at Target. Probably trying to suck us in to spending, spending, and more spending!!
A Christmas Prayer by Amy Parker is a refreshing change to the sometimes over commercialized holiday season. In A Christmas Prayer, a young child says thank you to God for each of the Christmas gifts: the angel Gabriel, Mary, Joseph, the donkey, the manger, the shepards, the bright star, and Jesus, the perfect Christmas gift. The rhyming verse in the story follows a repetative, predictable pattern.
I found A Christmas Prayer to be a very sweet book with a simple but strong message. I can't wait to share this book with my boys to introduce them to the important figures in the Christmas story during Advent. The book is available in a board book with a padded hard cover. There is something soft and sweet about the cover, the rhyme, and the illustrations. The book practically begs to be read as a bedtime prayer!
